Once upon a time...

... This little boy from Peterborough, Ontario, (home of the world's largest liftlocks)
... And this little girl from Iloilo City, Philippines, (also known as the Philippine's City of Love)...

A: He seemed to get along with EVERYONE and was so easy to talk to. His office space was often used as a therapists chair.

At that time, the SkyDome was still the Sky Dome, the Toronto Maple Leafs still played in the Maple Leaf Gardens, and the grounds of the ACC housed a post office

Both eventually got jobs at an uptown hospital and finally met in the summer of 2008 as they worked on the same amazing team.

D: Our managers had mentioned that this new nurse started on the team. She was described as cool with crazy orange hair... and how could i miss that crazy orange hair...

...found themselves growing

up in and around Toronto in the 90's.

After a great night celebrating our friend Claudia's birthday (relationship milestones seem to happen around Claudia's birthdays =] ), she was nice enough to drive me home and I remember thinking: she's a really good looking girl

Following 2 1/2 years of being work friends and only seeing each other occasionally outside of the hospital - attending co-workers' birthdays, holiday functions, and such - Daniel moved on to a different hospital.

one Friday evening in March, 2011...

We decided to catch up at a pub in Unionville. Having too much fun to end the night, we headed into the city to meet Angela's friends and continue hanging out.

Since that fateful night, we hung out every week with various groups of friends, until eventually it became outings with just the two of us... I guess you can call those... "dates".

From then onwards, we've had one adventure after another... (snippets from some of our outings)

Leading up to our greatest adventure yet!

It was exciting trying to keep it a secret and everyone was involved in making sure she didn't double book the day for another event (she has a knack for doing that). I had to lure her into coming to the cottage by telling her weeks in advance that we needed to be there for firewood to be delivered.

.

   Here's

how it all went down

More than once, i wondered, "when have they ever waited for wood to be delivered? The cottage is surrounded by trees!"

Of course we need wood. It takes a year to chop and dry before you can use it. You can't just go out into the forest and get logs like that!

Everyone did a great job keeping it from me, I didn't suspect a thing. Daniel even made a special effort to throw me off.

I was trying to argue with her just to make sure she really didn't think of a potential for a proposal.

I remember being very nervous. I knew we were going to the cottage but I didn't really have a plan once we got there. I always knew that she wanted something exciting and elaborate, but I was too shy to make it into a public affair so I thought I would be more comfortable in a private place. Since it was a Sunday afternoon in June, we had the whole lake all to ourselves.

The bugs were everywhere. I was pacing around by the lake running away from anything with wings and swatting off bugs as I sat and waited for him to prepare lunch in the cottage.

He walked down to the dock with a bouquet of flowers in one hand and lunch in the other. He must have been so nervous that he barely even handed me the flowers. Instead he asked me to fill a bucket with water and plopped them in it. And so we had lunch on the dock with a bouquet of flowers between us.

Angela has to get EVERYTHING documented, so I set down my phone to record the whole thing. Except when I finally leaned in to get down on one knee, I pretty much covered the whole view with my back. At least we got some good audio.

Daniel leaned in closer, I barely noticed that he was on one knee, because he went right on to ask for raspberries. Then proceeded to feed me raspberries

I was so nervous I could have eaten 17 baskets of raspberries that day

And the rest was history. It's a good thing we got audio recorded because I can barely remember what was said. Next thing I knew, I was crying, smiling, and trying to make sense of what was happening.

She must have been in such shock because I was waiting for confirmation that she even heard me. Bare knee on wooden dock was not entirely comfortable.

She said YES! and we headed home to share the great news!

Thank you for taking the time to read through our story!

We're so excited to have you join us as we take the leap into being partners in crime for a lifetime.

THANK YOU!

for all your love and support throughout our lives...
